ISBI Institute @ Strathmore was founded by Strathmore Educational Trust (SET) and an Austrian NGO, ICEP (www.icep.at), with the goal to promote business and management mastery amongst small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Our faculty is uniquely suited to address the SME segment. The combination of vast industry experience in their respective fields and interactive in class lecturing aims to provide a real competitive advantage through people.

John Njane

John Njane is the Human Resource Manager at Strathmore Business School, previously worked as the HR Partner at the Strathmore University.


John is a mentor, serving undergraduate students at Strathmore university. He is also a Part-time Lecturer in the areas of Leadership, Corporate Governance and Human Resource Management.

Dr. Fredrick Ogola

Dr. Fred Ogola is the Academic Director MBA programs, Director of the Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness and Senior Lecturer of Strategy and Decision Making at Strathmore Business School.

He is also Director Strategy and Investments of Property Reality Company and also Sits in the Board of the Arch Diocese of Nairobi Health Board.

He is a Part-time Professor of IESE Business School, a Visiting Professor at University of St. Gallen, Europe. Dr. Ogola is a consultant in Strategy formulation & Execution and Change Management.

Ms. Roseline K. Njogu

Ms. Roseline is a PhD Candidate at the University of Nairobi and holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from Harvard Law School, and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Nairobi.

She is an expert in corporate law, antitrust and Islamic Finance. She also serves on the advisory board of the South African Journal on Policy and Development (SAJPD) where she advises on articles on international investment and finance.

Ngina Mutava

Ngina is a tax lawyer with over 10 years’ experience in tax and general legal practice. She holds a Master’s degree in International Tax from New York University. 

Her areas of focus include: international taxation, tax policy, gender and tax, taxation and inequality as well domestic tax and also the Associate Director of the Strathmore Tax Research Center 

She has worked with KPMG, one of the leading tax firms in the country and has been involved in setting up and running tax departments for two leading law firms in the country. 

Janet Odawa
Program Administrator 

Janet Odawa holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Actuarial Science, from  Strathmore University.


Janet is responsible for the planning and execution of the day to day operations at ISBI, as well as the coordination of the classes

Jermaine Coelho
Project Manager

Jermaine holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance, from Strathmore University. He is also currently pursuing a CFA Charter.

His role includes assisting and contributing to continuous improvement and development of programs and statistical data processing. He is also responsible for conducting and coordinating research projects the company engages in.

Maryanne Akoth
Director for Programs

Maryanne Akoth is passionate about supporting entrepreneurship, employment and prosperity. Before joining ISBI, she was at TechBridge Invest, where she led the establishment of the business incubation hub in Mombasa, Kenya.

She's also workedat the University of Nairobi's Computing for Development Lab, where she was instrumental in driving the agenda for the innovation ecosystem with partners in Academia, Government, Corporate, Foreign Embassies and Start-ups.


Maryanne is on the management board of national body, ASSEK (Association of Startup and SME Enablers of Kenya). In May 2019, she was nominated as a promising innovation leader by ALPS (Austrian Leadership Program). 

Theodore Angwenyi
Marketing & Project Analyst 

Theodore Angwenyi has a background in Finance and Financial analysis & Data Science from Strathmore University.


He is in charge of the development and oversight of the Reka (Record Keeping Program). 


Theodore is also responsible for the regular review and improvement of the Record keeping platform. He's also tasked with  technical support ReKa users.

Prof. Robert Mudida

Prof. Robert Mudida is an Associate Professor of Political Economy at Strathmore Business School and has considerable lecturing and practical experience in the areas of economics, applied econometrics, public policy, negotiation, international trade and finance

Dr. James Wanjagi

Dr. James K. Wanjagi holds a PhD degree in Organizational Management – Leadership specialization, from Capella University – School of Business in Minneapolis, MN.


He is a seasoned senior level executive, Certified Project Management professional, Change Management, Communication strategist, and IT technology expert .


Dr. James Wanjagi has over 15 years of extensive market place experience, managing organizational performance and multi-million dollar operations and projects.

Thrity Engineer

Thrity Engineer-Mbuthia is a Certified Executive & Leadership Coach and a Professional Marketer who has had an opportunity to work with diverse professionals helping them achieve extraordinary results in their lives.

Her areas of specialization are around management & leadership, customer experience, communication, sales and marketing. She has had an opportunity to train over 320 managers in 3 East Africa countries and about 100 managers for KNHCR, MESPT, AIG & KCB among others.

Tabitha Njuguna

Tabitha is a doctoral fellow at Strathmore University Business School pursuing a PhD in Business Administration (Finance). She is an affiliate of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA)

Tabitha has over ten years of teaching experience at the university. She is also involved in training finance courses for executive programs at the Business School.


Prior to joining Strathmore University she worked as at Commercial Bank of Africa.

Daniel Kinuthia

Daniel ensures the smooth flow of our day to day operations by maintaining systems, procuring necessities and technical support.

Daniel holds a diploma in Business Administration and has a certificate in computerized accounting

Elizabeth Kalu
Academic Development Assistant

Elizabeth Kalu has a background in Financial Economics and Data Science from Strathmore University. She has strong skills in finance and econometrics.

She is responsible for the development and improvement of academic content for the ISBI Advanced Entrepreneurship Program (AEP).

Suncan Pavlovic
Founding Director

Suncan has both occupied executive positions in multinational companies, like Deutsche Bank (Managing Director PWM Russia) and Raiffeisenbank Foreign Trade (Country Manager Russia) and established several private businesses. 

He has broad experience in providing consulting services on strategy development and financial optimization.

Suncan’s academic path includes the best institutions in the world, like IE Business School, IESE  Business school, Oxford  University SAÏD and Stanford University amongst others.

Francis Mutua
Finance & HR Manager

Francis holds a BA (Economics) from Moi University. He is also a SAP Certified Application Associate (Business Intelligence) and CPA finalist.


He is responsible for maintaining proper books of accounts, overseeing the daily operations of the company (procurement, production, sales) and preparing financial reports for audit.

He also prepares budgets and monthly reports for partners and donors and ensures compliance with the legislative changes in the field of taxation and employment.
